A cornerstone in the arts-led revitalization of Alberta Avenue

Artists of different disciplines live and work in a dynamic community that is highly motivated in support the arts. This unique cooperative consists of sixteen live/work studios located above the Nina Haggerty Centre for the Arts on 118th.

ArtsHub 118 was Edmonton’s first affordable housing co-op for artists and was funded with a $2.4 million grant from the Cornerstones Program. The project was to help increase the supply of local affordable housing and help the City of Edmonton and the Alberta Avenue community in their joint efforts to revitalize the 118th Avenue area.

On June 30, 2011, Arts Habitat, along with partners Edmonton Inner City Housing Society and Artists Urban Village, celebrated the official opening of ArtsHub 118 Housing Cooperative! The co-op offers 16 light-filled apartment-style units is approximately 750 square feet at below market rates.

  • 1 bedroom + den units
  • In-suite laundry
  • Communal outdoor deck
  • Onsite outdoor parking
  • Elevator
  • Nina Haggerty Centre for the Arts studios and gallery at street level below the Co-op
  • Colourful neighbourhood with strong sense of community
  • Great shopping
  • Close to Public Transit

I feel very privileged to live in Arts Hub 118. We are located in a neighbourhood that is green with potential and beginning to bud. It does not surprise me that artists have gravitated to an area that many others would avoid, because we love to re-imagine things and create beauty.
