Why ArtsHub 118?
Those who reside at ArtsHub 118 are more than tenants; they are members. Artists of all disciplines live and work in this dynamic creative community. Together, they are responsible for the Co-operative membership. Each Co-op member has a vote in how to best manage the residence, allowing you to have a say in how to shape the environment. This fosters both community and social cohesion within the building.
Co-op membership is open to professional artists and non-profit arts or cultural industry professionals, and is determined by application. ArtsHub 118 offers an affordable advantage to those who qualify; to be eligible for this long term affordable housing opportunity, applicant’s personal incomes are restricted to a maximum amount earned and must meet income requirements upon move-in.
The current monthly rent for a Live/Work unit is $950.00 + $10.00 for parking (CAD).

Co-operative Membership Application Information
This unique Co-operative consists of 16 Live/Work units located on the second and third floors of the building. Each Live/Work unit has a floorplan that is approximately 750 square feet in size. Each unit contains:
- 1 Bedroom + Den
- 1 Bath
- Appliances: refrigerator, oven & stove, microwave, and dishwasher
- In-suite laundry
- Onsite outdoor parking
- Communal outdoor deck
- Nearby public transit
ArtsHub 118 Project Background
ArtsHub 118 is Edmonton’s first affordable housing co-operative for artists and was funded with a $2.4 million grant from the Cornerstones Program. The project was to help increase the supply of local affordable housing and help the City of Edmonton and the Alberta Avenue community in their joint efforts to revitalize the 118th Avenue area. On June 30th, 2011, Arts Habitat Edmonton, along with its project partners, the Edmonton Inner City Housing Society (now Right at Home Housing Society) and Artists Urban Village, celebrated the official opening of ArtsHub 118 Housing Co-operative. Since 2012, ArtsHub 118 has been home to 47 past Co-op members, and primarily remains fully occupied today.
Neighbours in the Building
ArtsHub 118 occupies both the second and third floors of the building, also known as the upstairs neighbours to the Nina Haggerty Centre for the Arts. Arts Habitat owns the upstairs floors of the building, and the Nina owns the main floor. The Nina empowers artists with developmental disabilities by providing an inclusive studio environment where they can create, develop, and share their artistic practice. Arts Habitat Edmonton is separate from The Nina, but both organizations are on the property’s condominium board. ArtsHub 118 is a great example of how dedicated arts spaces create environments of natural supports that help artists thrive.
