When it comes to creating art, appropriate and accessible space is a must-have. Space is an invaluable resource for artists, no matter your medium or purpose. Many creative workers, non-profits, small businesses, and community organizations spend a considerable amount of resources trying to find suitable and affordable rental spaces. Conversely, venues expend significant effort trying to find the right people for their space.
There are special demands that must be addressed such as a dance studio needing a sprung floor, visual artist requirements for light, a photographer’s use of a dark room, soundproofing for a musician, and many others. Arts Habitat works proactively with partners to nurture our community’s spaces to become an integral part of the City’s vitality, identity, and pride.
Being a voice for arts space in Edmonton is a role we take seriously and we value the opportunities we have to drive change, work towards improvements, help others make informed decisions and explore options. Our current and potential partnerships increase our knowledge base, add to our expertise, and expand the possibilities for accessible and appropriate space for the arts in Edmonton. Arts Habitat recognizes the importance and value of partnerships. Much of what we do, we attribute to the successful cooperation with other organizations and individuals.
